What It’s Actually like to Plan a Trip With Me

Planning a bespoke Sri Lanka trip with me is a personal, one to one process, not an automated itinerary. I am Nashath Cassim, a Sri Lanka travel planner based in Colombo, and this is exactly what working with me looks like, step by step.

The short version

Planning a bespoke Sri Lanka itinerary with me is a personal, one to one process, not an automated plan from a website. I am Nashath Cassim, a Sri Lanka travel planner based in Colombo, and this is exactly what working with me looks like, from the first call to the moment you fly home.

It Starts With a Call, Not a Template

Before I send any itinerary, I get on a call. I want to hear your voice, understand the people travelling, and learn what you are really hoping for. Some travellers tell me they expected an automated plan back within hours, the kind a website generates from a few dropdowns. Instead, they got a conversation first.

“we thought you’ll send us an ai itnietry not have a call an dunderstand us first”

— a client, on their first conversation with me

That call is the foundation. I am not trying to sell you a package. I am trying to understand whether Sri Lanka is right for you, which parts, and in what order. Sometimes the honest answer is that a different destination suits you better, and I will say so.

Getting to Know How You Travel

Once we have spoken, I dig into the details that shape a good trip. Pace of travel: do you like to move every two days, or settle into one base for longer? Food: halal, vegetarian, allergies, dishes the children will actually eat. Prayer times: how we build the day around them without making the trip feel rigid. Who tires easily, who loves adventure, room setups, and how much downtime the family needs.

This is the part a booking engine cannot do, because it requires listening, not form fields. A bespoke Sri Lanka itinerary only works when it is built around how your family actually travels, not around a standard route copied from a brochure.

Solving Problems You’ll Never See

Most of the value I add is in problems I stop before you ever see them.

Monsoon timing by region. Sri Lanka has two monsoons, and the right coast in the right month is the difference between sunshine and rain. I match your dates to the right region, so you are not on the wet coast in the wet season.

Road travel times. A route that looks short on a map can take hours on Sri Lankan roads. I know which drives are genuinely scenic and which are exhausting, and I pace the journey so you arrive in good shape.

Holiday crowds. Sigiriya, Yala and the Ella train get busy at peak times. I time entries, gates and starts to keep you ahead of the crowds where I can.

Kandy hills at dusk, Sri Lanka, with mist over forested mountains and a calm lake, a view timed for arrival rather than rushed past

The details that matter to your family. I check a villa’s actual prayer space, not just whether it has one. I keep backup plans ready if weather closes a safari. I build slack into the day, because travelling with a family means things take longer than planned.

The Details You Never Have to Think About

Once the route is set, I handle the parts you should never have to think about. Confirming halal kitchens with each property. Arranging drivers who know the route and the right places to stop. Child seats. Early check in after a long flight, so you are not waiting in a lobby at noon. Restaurant reservations. Cash and a working SIM card arranged for you on arrival. And a direct WhatsApp line to me throughout the trip.

This is what a Sri Lanka trip planning service should be: someone carrying the logistics so you can simply be on holiday with your family.

While You’re in Sri Lanka

While you are in Sri Lanka, I am reachable. I check in, but quietly, never intruding on your time. If something needs fixing, a change of plan, a restaurant that lost your booking, a driver running late, I fix it behind the scenes. You hear about the solution, not the problem.

I am a person, not a booking engine. When you message me during your trip, you are messaging the same person who planned it, who knows your family, and who is on the ground in Sri Lanka. That is the difference between a personal travel planner and a platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does planning a bespoke Sri Lanka trip work?

It starts with a call, not a template. I learn about your family, your dates, your pace, food and prayer needs, then build a route around how you actually travel. I handle drivers, villas, halal kitchens and the details, and I stay reachable on WhatsApp throughout your trip. Every itinerary is designed individually.

Who is a good private travel planner for Sri Lanka?

A good private travel planner is based on the island, knows the regions and seasons firsthand, and builds relationships with local people. I am Nashath Cassim, a personal travel planner based in Colombo, and I personally design and oversee every trip, from the first call to the final transfer.

Is there a halal travel planner for Sri Lanka?

Yes. As a halal travel planner for Sri Lanka, I confirm halal kitchens in advance, build prayer times into the schedule, arrange prayer friendly transport stops, and brief villa staff and drivers on your needs. Halal travel is built into the plan from the start, not added as an afterthought.

How far in advance should I plan a Sri Lanka trip?

Ideally two to three months ahead, especially for travel in peak season from December to April, when the best villas and train seats book early. That said, I have planned shorter notice trips too. The earlier we start the conversation, the more options we have.

What does a Sri Lanka travel planner cost?

I do not publish package prices, because every trip is designed individually around your family, dates and standards. Costs depend on the season, the level of accommodation and the experiences you want. The first conversation is always free, and I will be honest about what your budget will allow.
